Oh hi there. It's been a while, perhaps I need to re-introduce myself. My name is Jodie and welcome back to what has been my non-existent blog for the past year! Where have you been you ask? I've been around...however certain changes in my life have unfortunately derailed me from my love of blogging! Though it was never my intention to leave it for this long, it's just time goes so damn fast! Life happens right? The only thing that matters now is that I'm back! I have to say, I've really missed this - the creativity, style and photography aspects of it all. Also, it gave me a motive to explore and see not only Australia, but the world more. I'm so happy to be back!
I adore many styles, but one of my fav's would have to be boho chic. Boho, being short for bohemian. The definition of a bohemian is: gypsy; wanderer. A person, musician, artist or writer who lives a free spirited life and believes in the truth, freedom and love. It's how I would describe myself sometimes, or at least strive to be because who wants to live a stressful life???
The reason why I love bohemian style is because of what it represents. It follows the lines of effortless, relaxed fashion, with it's loose-fitted clothing, casual accessories and overall artistic, creative mishmash of elements.
And that's what I've created here in this photostory. Barefeet and make-up free, I paired this beautifully patterned, free-flowing, feminine skirt with a simple tee, adding a gold crescent horn necklace and a simple straw bag to maintain that "Oh I just put this on..." look - yet still feel cute and fashionable in my outfit.
The best part of this outfit is that the skirt has pockets!! I'm telling you, I am such a sucker for clever add-ons!
I'm proud to say, everything I'm wearing in this photostory was bought during this trip to Byron Bay, therefore all sourced from local brands.
The tee and the long skirt are the stars of this outfit. They were both bought from Spell and the Gypsy Collective which is a must-visit, fashion staple of Byron Bay. If you haven't heard of this brand, have you been living under a rock??? Within the last 10 years, they have emerged from humble-beginnings of a small stall at Byron Bay markets to an internationally recognised modern-bohemian brand, with celebrities such as Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Alba and Chrissy Teigan rockin' their designs!
Spell taps into the sense of nostalgia, beauty and freedom that compliments the female spirit. Their pieces are made for the girl who dreams of a far-away wonderland. (Me everyday, all day!)
If you ever make your way to Byron Bay, be sure to pop into their boutique store - you'll love it! The striking space embodies the carefree, gypsy character Spell is known and loved for, mixing new and old together with the natural and manmade. Though I love online shopping, to me nothing beats going in-store as is allows you to fully experience the brand.
If you haven't guessed it already, the backdrop to this photostory is Byron Bay. Of course, most of you may know it as the home to the genetically blessed Hemsworth brothers but it's also home to those who want to rebel against or escape from the 9-5 lifestyle, searching for a deeper and purer existence. People travel all over the world to experience the carefree, chilled, slowed down pace of life that Byron Bay has to offer. It's definitely the reason why I travelled here! Though I generally don't mind the 9-5 grind, it's always good for your mind and body to take a break every now and then.
I'm actually heading to Byron Bay at the end of this week, just for a long weekend. I know you know where my first stopover will be!
Oh I also heard a Hemsworth brother is available *wink*wink*... but I'll probably have better luck finding Chris and Elsa's lost dog!
Thanks for reading xoxo
